I find that a lot of clients have an often sentimental attachment to single chairs. This is often because they have been in the family for generations. Sometimes it is because it was the chair a deceased husband or wife sat in.
Whatever the reason you have to respect the emotional attachment and treat, the often fragile and threadbare, chair with great care.
The chair in the picture belonged to a lovely 87 year-old woman who had recently lost her husband of over 50 years.
She was living in a flat in a retirement village and she asked me to clean both the chair and all carpets in her flat after seeing the job I had done for her neighbour.
This chair was in pretty good condition but great care must be taken especially on the arms as the material can be thin, worn and easy to tear.
A challenging but enjoyable job as people from the older generation tend tend to be more forthcoming with tea and biscuits.
